Moms and Motherhood in Art
Moms and Motherhood
If there's anyone who epitomises moms everywhere, and lives and breathes mothehood, it's got to be Edna Hibel. This award-winning American artist provided a good life for her numerous children, grandchilden and great-grandchildren with her prolific art, often depicting her favorite theme: family. Mothers and children from many cultures are tenderly illustrated in Hibel's famous lithographs and serigraphs, porcelain collectibles plates and ceramic art tiles. In typical Hibel style, they glow with love and radiate inner peace.
In January, Edna Hibel celebrated her 90th birthday - and she's still working and going strong! The following statement would make a good Mother's Day quotation for her and other super mums like herself:
“A mother who is really a mother is never free.”
Honore de Balzac
Edna Hibel's Mother's Day 2007 art, collectibles and gifts collection marks her 90th birthday. Her "Edna and Ande" Mother's Day 2007 collectible porcelain plate is particularly special, as it is named after her and one of her sons. Since she started creating collector's plates in 1973, no plate has ever had this honor.
